My Index fund and ETF Q2 2020 portfolio review

TLDR - April to June 2020 Index fund & ETF portfolio review

April to June 2020

What a quarter has it been? Despite the uncertainty, the recovery has been quite good after the sharp drop in Q1. Globally almost all governments are pumping money into their markets and it shows. The key markets that I am focused on India and US are doing a poor job of controlling the virus but the market is in complete disconnect with the main street because of the easy money policies that are in place.

Key index returns

How was the market return on key indexes for the last 3 months

  • Sensex = 21.4%

  • Nifty = 21.5 %

  • Nifty next 50 = 14.3 %

  • Nifty mid cap 100 = 22.6%

That is very sharp recovery indeed over 3 months.

My ETF Investments

As mentioned in my previous post about my move to Kuvera.in . I have not had any transactions against ETFs this quarter. But how does my ETF portfolio look like after the recovery?

Portfolio from Jan 2018 to Jun2020

Overall portfolio is down almost 6 %, but much better than the negative 25% for the first quarter.

My Kuvera Index funds

I have been slowly adding every month. I am trying to spread the SIP across the month but I am not doing a weekly or daily SIP. Just twice a month. The recovery has helped quite a bit.

Conclusion

I am going to continue down this path of monthly SIPs as per normal. I had previously talked about possibly increasing my investments based on the market fall, I have not done that yet in favour of prioritising my emergency fund goals first as detailed in this post. I am closer to getting there now. Within the next few months my emergency fund goal should be possible, then if the market correct I will buy more on dips. I have also opened a trading account with interactive brokers, will start looking at individual stocks in other countries, will provide updates on those as well.

How has your portfolio held up during this quarter? Did you exit any positions? Did you stick to your plan? Did you add more?
